We’re all in the same boat – well, not really…we could only be in the same boat if we were 6 feet apart – you get the idea. We are all working to stop the spread of COVID-19, and many of us are in areas with a strict request to stay at home…so that’s what we’re doing.
If you’ve ever been stuck at home for weeks at a time, you’ll know there is a lot of sitting around…a lot. I for one, am determined to not let this impact my fitness because I have some cute summer clothes I’d like to fit into at the end of all of this.
I’m also making my kids exercise everyday and we are making it intentional. Call it what you want – get moving, or get the wiggles out – I am telling them to purposefully exercise. This may not be your method, but it is mine.
With the help of some of my dietitian friends, I have put together a great list of workouts you can do at home for FREE – check it out:
FOR ADULTS, TEENS, and KIDS
The Great Outdoors
If you are still able to get outside – do it. Daily walks, run, biking, rollerblading, and all sports are a great way to get exercise right now. This is the perfect no-excuse exercise when the weather is nice. So, grab that frisbee and play.
Registered Dietitians Amy Gorin of Amy Gorin Nutrition, Judy Barbe of Live Best, and Jeanette Kimszal have all found their groove in the great outdoors, you can too!

More Ideas

Markita Lewis, MS, RD of Wellness and Chill recommends checking out the websites of your local gyms, show them some love on Facebook and see if they are offering any virtual classes.
If your kids play sports, keep them practicing or ask the coaches for workouts to keep their fitness level high.
Jill Weisenberger has the best idea to ensure you’re not alone during your workouts. Put your workout on the TV and Facetime over a laptop with a loved one doing the same workout video on their TV. There your have it, a virtual class with someone you know!
*If you’ve ever said you don’t have the time to exercise, now is your moment. Use this time to give back to yourself and reap all the benefits of exercise for your physical and mental health.
