If you’re a veteran energy ball maker, you know how easy they are to make. I make a ton and once you have all the basic ingredients and a food processor, you are set for all types of flavor combinations. I’ll be completely honest, most of my recipes come from experimentation and this one was a successful experiment.
We go through a lot of snacks in our house and these days, with my children demanding food pretty much every second of every day, I do about 1/3 homemade, 1/3 store-bought, and the remaining third is ready to eat like fruit, veggies, cheese sticks, etc. Feeding kids is not only hard on the wallet, but it’s also hard on the default parent. So, if that’s you, kudos – we’re all doing the best we can.
These figgy pops take 5 ingredients, 6 if you want to add a little chocolate…so, okay, 6 ingredients, because we’re all probably going to add the chocolate. If you have an allergy, they taste great if you leave the chocolate out.
The food processor is your best friend when making energy bites. If you don’t have one, then try this in a high powered blender, you just might have to stop it to get everything blended up. Seriously though, a food processor is worth the investment. Trust me, my tiny German kitchen doesn’t lend me a lot of space for extra appliances, but I make space for the food processor.
These will taste good if kept in the fridge for about 5 days and they travel amazingly well. We took them to Spain and even after all the bangs that a carry-on can ensure, these held together perfectly and kept me fueled!
